Parts of Ecuador shook as an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck the country early on Saturday.
According to media reports, no immediate casualties or injuries came to the knowledge of authorities. Felt in the capital Quito and the coastal city Esmeraldas near Colombia, the earthquake occurred at 01:26 am local time at a depth of 12 kilometers off the Ecuadorian coast.
No immediate damage has been reported despite the strength of the said seismic activity.
