Bomb scare at London’s Baker Street tube station

A bomb scare over an abandoned car on central London’s Baker Street on Thursday caused closures in the area, local police said.

Passengers at Baker Street Tube Station were evacuated at the rush hour. Roads were reopened after London’s Metropolitan Police later declared it had been non-suspicious.

A controlled explosion was reportedly carried out at Baker Street Tube station after reports of the suspicious vehicle, according to local media reports.

The heightened vigilance in the UK, which has been encouraged by police, comes after Friday’s terror attacks in France that claimed more than 130 lives and left hundreds of others seriously injured. Meanwhile, the Russian Security Service confirmed on Tuesday that Russia’s MetroJet passenger plane crash in Sinai, which killed 224, was caused by an explosive device.
