Bangladesh Oppn party spokesman arrested in Meghalaya

Salahuddin Ahmed, secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party headed by Khaleda Zia, has been arrested by Meghalaya police, on Monday morning.

Reports say that he was arrested for travelling without documents.

The Meghalaya police booked him under section 14 foreigners act with illegal entry

 Police, during interrogation, learnt about his identity as a high profile Bangladeshi opposition leader and that he had been away from Bangladesh for last two months.

Janta Ka Reporter spoke to M Kharkang SP East Khasi Hills Shillong and said that the BNP secretary had entered India without any valid documents. SP stated that Ahmed is currently undergoing treatment and strict action will be taken against him for his unlawful entry into India.

“Police picked him up on Monday morning, except for verbal deposition he doesn`t have any documents. He us undergoing check up, as he complained of heart ailment though he doesn`t look unhealthy.” IG Raju The IG aslo added that the police is dutifully bound to provide him necessary help and therefore this is a routine check up.

This development highlights the danger India`s porous border with Bangladesh poses to its national security. Police is still trying to ascertain as to why and how Ahmed managed to enter India without any valid documents.
