26 dead, 180 wounded in Romania nightclub fire

Fire at a nightclub late on Friday followed by explosions has killed 26 and wounded 180 in downtown Bucharest, authorities announced on Saturday.

Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea said that 26 were confirmed dead in the explosion in a nightclub named Colectiv, Xinhua reported.

Some 180 injured were admitted into different hospitals in Bucharest, according to Secretary of State of the Health Ministry Raed Arafat.

According to the Facebook page of the club, the club was to play host on Friday evening to the launching of an album by band Goodbye to Gravity.
