Reliance Jio launches Kumbh JioPhone to enrich spiritual experience of pilgrims


Reliance Jio on Monday launched Kumbh JioPhone for millions of pilgrims taking part in the 55-day religious event in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. Calling it a revolutionary innovation, Reliance Jio said that this will ‘enrich the spiritual experience of millions of pilgrims during the divine holy dip.’

A statement by the company said, “Standing true to its promise, JioPhone is back with yet another revolutionary innovation, the Kumbh JioPhone that will provide value that goes beyond the ordinary.”

Kumbh is the largest human congregation in the world, with over 130 million pilgrims taking a Holy dip over 55 days. According to Reliance Jio, the Kumbh JioPhone is a unique and differentiated offering, being introduced to ‘honour this revered tradition of India.’

Pilgrims using Kumbh JioPhones will be able to avail a host of benefits especially designed for the needs of the pilgrims. They include ‘End to End Rich information services about Kumbh, Information on Kumbh, Real-time Travel Information (special trains, buses etc.), ‘Booking tickets & receiving updates, Yatri Ashray at stations, Emergency Helpline Numbers, Area routes and Maps, Pre-published bath and religious day schedules and Railway Camp Mela’ among others.

The phone will also have features such as ‘Family Locator,’ which will help pilgrims stay close to their loved ones by finding their exact location. ‘Khoya Paya (Lost & Found)’ feature will help them reunite with their family and friends, in the event that are not able to trace them. The phone will also telecast special Kumbh events and programs on JioTV along with previous archives of Kumbh under Kumbh Darshan feature. If this was not enough,  Kumbh Radio will play devotional songs and hymns all through their stay in Allahabad.

The new phone will also be armed with online games and daily prize draws through quiz competitions, giving pilgrims opportunities to win prizes including free additional data. These additional features, said the company, were over and above the ‘JioPhone core offerings that have already transformed the digital landscape in the country.’
