Satnam Singh Bhamara has become the first Indian-born player to be drafted in NBA League. The 7’2″ was been picked up by Dallas Mavericks and is all set to become only second Indian-origin basketball player after Sim Bhullar to feature in the NBA Basketball league.
Back in 2011, Satnam, at the age of 16 became the youngest player to represent India at the 26th Asian Basketball Championship at Wuhan in China. He spent the last five years playing at the IMG Academy in Florida, but he’s the first player since the NBA put age restrictions in place in 2005 to enter the league without first playing in college, a professional foreign league or the D-League.
As per records, Canadian-born Sim Bhullar became the NBA’s first player of Indian descent last year, but Satnam Singh would be the first player actually born in Indian soil to join the league.
