Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has single-handed shut up a motormouth former Pakistani cricketer for constantly casting aspersions against Virat Kohli and questioning the latter’s greatness. An epic potshot by Vaughan has also come as a rude shock for the supporters of Rohit Sharma, who appeared to side with Mohammad Hafiz in his tirade against Kohli.
Vaughan minced no words when he asked Hafeez if he held grudges against Kohli because despite being a batsman the latter had bowled him out once in the past. “Seems to me @MHafeez22 you were bowled by @imVkohli!!! Is this the reason you constantly have a pop at him .. 😜😜 #CWC2023 #India #Pakistan.”
This was in reference to Hafeez’s constant attempts to make light of Kohli’s achievement in the world of cricket. Hafeez had recently called Kohli a selfish player when the former India skipper scored a record-equalling 49th ODI century against South Africa at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium.
Hafeez had plenty of support from Rohit Sharma fans, who cheered the ex-Pakistani player in his tirade against a celebrated Indian player.
Even on Wednesday, Hafeez took another potshot at Kohli by terming his century of less importance than the one scored by Ben Stokes against the Netherlands in Mumbai. Hafeez wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Saviour of the ship @benstokes38 😍👍🏼 Good 💯 under pressure anchoring the innings where required with aggressive intent to get Maximum runs for the team to win at the end. Sheer example to differentiate Selfish vs Selfless approach @MichaelVaughan #ENGvNED #CWC23.”
But even here, the former Pakistani player had to face embarrassment as Vaughan bluntly replied, “Great innings from Stokesy @MHafeez22 .. As was Virats on a difficult pitch in Kolkata against a better attack.”
This prompted Kohli fans to mock Hafeez as they flooded the social media platform with hilarious comments and memes.
