A 15-year-old athlete died and three more critical after consuming poisonous fruit locally called ‘Othalanga’ in an alleged suicide pact at a sports training institute.
According to the reports, students took the tremendous step as they couldn’t bear the humiliation by their seniors after they were reportedly found in an inebriated state.
The girl who died was allegedly beaten with an oar. She had complained authorities but they failed to act on their complaint.
Their families allege the girls were unable to bear physical and mental torture by their seniors.
On Wednesday night the girls were found poisoned in the SAI women`s hostel. They were rushed to the General Hospital and then to Medical College Hospital.
