Mohammed Shami on Sunday became the first Indian bowler to claim a 5-wicket haul twice in the World Cup as India defeated the unbeaten New Zealand. Virat Kohli, who had scored an unbeaten century in the last match against Bangladesh, remained unbeaten once again with a knock of 95. The former India skipper would have equalled the record of Sachin Tendulkar with the most number of centuries in One Day Internationals had he completed his century today.
Batting first, New Zealand were bowled out for 273 in 50 overs with Daryl Mitchell playing an impressive knock of 130 from 127 balls.
Mohammed Shami was the tormentor-in-chief for New Zealand as he picked up five wickets. Shami, who was continuously neglected by the team management in this World Cup was also on a hat-trick.
Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj claimed one wicket each.

India achieved the target by losing six wickets with balls to spare. Kohli was the top scorer with a knock of 95.
With today’s win, India has climbed to the top of the points table. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals after they’ve played against each other.
