Gutted: Wasim Jaffer reacts after KL Rahul diagnosed with acute appendicitis, taken to hospital ahead of Punjab Kings’ match against Delhi Capitals

Punjab Kings have said that their skipper and star batsman KL Rahul had been diagnosed with acute appendicitis and the cricketer has been admitted to hospital for surgery. Punjab Kings batting coach Wasim Jaffer said that he was gutted by the news.

A statement by Punjab Kings read, “KL Rahul complained of a severe abdomen pain last night and after not responding to medication, he was taken to the emergency room for further tests, which revealed that he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. It will be resolved surgically and for safety measures, he’s been transferred to the hospital for the same.”

Reacting to the news, Jaffer said, “Gutted. Speedy recovery skipper @klrahul11 the comeback is going to be stronger than the setback.”



The news of KL Rahul’s illness ahs come just hours before Punjab Kings are scheduled to take on Delhi Capitals in a crucial IPL match. Rahul had played an impressive unbeaten knock of 91 in 57 balls in the last match against Royale Challengers Bangalore. Punjab Kings had defeated the RCB by 34 runs.
