French Open 2021: Novak Djokovic recovers from two sets down to win 19th career Grand Slam at Roland Garros


Novak Djokovic on Sunday recovered from being two sets down against Stefanos Tsitsipas to win a five-set thriller in the French Open men’s singles final at Roland Gaross as he claimed his 19th career Grand Slam title.

34-year-old Serb beat his 22-year-old Greek opponent 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. Djokovic had defeated Rafael Nadal, known as the King of Clay, in the semi-final.

Tsitsipas had defeated his German rival Sascha Zverov 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3 in the other semi-final.

Disappointed by his loss in the final despite having two sets lead, Tsitsipas was seen covering his face for a long time as he remained seated on his chair after the match.
