Fans are praying for the quick recovery of Chris Cairns after the former New Zealand all-rounder was placed on life support in Australia. According to the Newshub website, the former Kiwi star suffered an aortic dissection in his heart in Canberra last week.

A tear in the inner layer of the large blood vessel branching off the heart.

The report said that doctors treating Cairns had performed several rounds of surgeries but the celebrated former New Zealand cricketer had not responded to treatment as desired by the medical team.

Commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “Such a stellar career and such an eventful life. So wish #ChrisCairns can recover.” Former India batsman VVS Laxman wrote on Twitter, “Wishing #ChrisCairns a very speedy recovery.”

Egland’s Barmy Army tweeted, “Sending huge best wishes to @BLACKCAPS legend Chris Cairns who is on life support in Australia ???? Pull through champ.”





Chris Cairns represented New Zealand in 62 Tests and scored 3320 runs including five centuries and 22 half-centuries. He took 218 wickets in as many Test matches as a bowler.

Cairns scored 4950 runs including four centuries and 25 fifties in 215 One Day Internationals for his country and claimed 201 wickets.
