Ukraine pulled off a stunning victory against Sweden in the round of 16 to set up a Euro 2020 quarter-final clash against England.

Euro 2020 quarter-final

Ukraine took the lead in the 27th minute of the match after Oleksandr Zinchenko netted home. Emil Forsberg levelled the match just before halftime for Sweden.

The match went into the extra time only to see Sweden being reduced to 10 men after Marcus Danielson was shown a red card in the 99th minute of the game after a VAR check.

Just when everyone thought the match was headed to penalties, substitute Artem Dovbyk headed the winner in the 121st minute of the match.

This is the first time that Ukraine has progressed to the quarter-final stage of the European Championship. Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko is earning plaudits for achieving this feat for his national team. In 2006, the former Chelsea striker had successfully led Ukraine to the first-ever quarter-final of the World Cup. Shevchenko is also Ukraine’s all-time goal-scorer and the only Ukrainian to ever win the Ballon D’or.

Ukraine will now face England in the quarter-final in Rome on 3 July. The English side had defeated mighty Germans 2-0 in the second last game of the round of 16 on Tuesday.
