The Indian cricket team may have been knocked out of the cricket World Cup after losing to New Zealand in the semi-final by 18 runs, causing heartbreak to millions of fans. But India’s bowling legend Bishan Singh Bedi has said that India still had a possibility of bringing the coveted trophy back to India.
Taking to Twitter, Bishan Singh Bedi wrote, “Meanwhile BJP is in touch with New Zealand team..who have reportedly agreed to resign & join team India..who will then play in the Finals at Lord’s..!!”

Bedi’s tweet was in reference to a series of recent political events in India, where the BJP was able to form governments despite having lost the elections. In Goa, where the saffron party won only 13 out of 40 seats, the BJP recently inducted almost all the Congress MLAs into its fold to secure the much-needed majority in the state assembly. The Congress had emerged as the single-largest party in the 2017 assembly polls.
In Karnataka too, the BJP was recently blamed for engineering large-scale defections of MLAs from the ruling Congress and the JDS to bring the governing coalition to a minority.
His tweet evoked plenty of hilarious reactions. One user wrote, “Karnataka / Goa ka rate 100 crore per MLA bata rahe hai. Newzeland ka rate kya raha? Williamson kitne me bika?” “The Legend! ❣️?? Class is permanent, form is temporary,” commented another user.
Bedi represented India in 67 Test matches taking 266 wickets. He was known for his ‘stealthy, silent and deadly’ spin bowling. According to a report by the ESPNCricinfo website, Bedi was a master of deception who conjured variations in flight, loop, spin and pace without any perceptible change in action.
