According to news agency PTI, Dravid was set to become Team India’s Head Coach after the conclusion of T20 World Cup. Dravid has been in-charge of India A and Under-19 teams for the last six years. He’s been credited with producing talents such as Rishabh Pant, Avesh Khan, Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari, and Shubman Gill among others.
The report by PTI quoted an anonymous BCCI official as saying, “Yes, Rahul has agreed to coach the Indian team till 2023 World Cup. Initially, he was reluctant but it is understood that president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah had a meeting with Rahul on the sidelines of the IPL final where they were able to convince him.”
Dravid, arguably one of the greatest batsmen to play for India, scored 13288 runs in 164 Tests during his career. This included 36 centuries and 63 fifties. He also scored 10899 in 344 One Day Internationals including 12 centuries and 83 half centuries.
