BJP MP Varun Gandhi has said that the BJP-led government at the Centre must start ‘re-engaging’ with farmers in a ‘respectful manner. Gandhi, a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit, took an extraordinary stand in favour of the protesting farmers on the day hundreds of thousands of them gathered in Mazaffarnagar for mahapanchayat.
Sharing a video of the farmers’ mahapanchayat, Varun tweeted, “Lakhs of farmers have gathered in protest today, in Muzaffarnagar. They are our own flesh and blood. We need to start re-engaging with them in a respectful manner: understand their pain, their point of view and work with them in reaching common ground.”

Farmers are expected to launch their future initiatives against the BJP governments in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in today’s mahapanchayat. Both states are current ruled by the BJP and scheduled to go for polls in early 2022.
Farmers are also expected to announce the Bharat Bandh against the Narendra Modi government’s controversial farm laws in today’s gathering.
Farmer leaders said that today’s mahapanchayat would conclusively prove that the protests over the farm laws had support from people of all castes, religions, classes, states and traders.
