Waris Pathan’s suspension over Bharat Mata Ki Jai wrong: Historian Ramachandra Guha

Historian Ramachandra Guha has described the suspension of the AIMING legislator Waris Pathan from Maharashtra assembly for not chanting Bharat Mata ki Jai utterly wrong.

Speaking to ABP News, the renowned historian said that the government was diverting from the core issues.

Congress, which claims to be champion of the secular ethos in politics, too had joined the right-wing Hindu parties in the assembly to demand Pathan’s suspension.

Pathan was suspended for the remainder of the session.

Pathan said that his suspension was tantamount to the murder of democracy in India.
