Virat Kohli reportedly donates Rs. 6.77 lakh to help former cricketer’s mother, battling COVID complications


Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has reportedly donated Rs. 6.77 lakh to help a former cricketer, whose mother is struggling with COVID complications. The former cricketer in question in KS Sravanthi Naidu, whose mother SK Suman is believed to be in critical condition. The family has already spent Rs. 16 lakh on her treatment, prompting several celebrities to appeal for financial help.

Badminton player Jwala Gutta had made a passionate plea tagging Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao on Twitter for help.

She had written, “Sir @KTRTRS Former India and Hyderabad all rounder Sravanthi Naidu’s parents r fighting Covid-19. She already spent Rs 16 lakh and is in urgent need for more funds for hospital expenses. She needs our support sir. Pls help.”

N Vidya Yadav, former BCCI South Zone convenor (women’s cricket), had reportedly approached Kohli on social media seeking financial help for Naidu, who represented India in one Test, 4 ODIs and 6 T2OIs and last played for the country in 2014. She was a slow left-arm bowler.

Vidya, according to Sportstar, later said that she was amazed at Kohli’s spontaneous gesture adding that such a great gesture from such a great cricketer.
“I am also grateful to the Indian fielding coach R. Sridhar who also took up the issue with Kohli,” she said.
