Haryana’s recent reservation stir by Jats left close to 20 dead and hundreds injured.
The agitation saw hundreds of public properties being burnt and looted causing damage worth thousands of crores.
More recently, the revelation of mass gangrapes in Murthal sent shockwaves across the country with people asking serious questions on the role, or the lack of it, of administration under the BJP government led by Manohar Lal Khattar.
The police’s utter failure to deal with the crisis assumed significance because Prime Minister Modi had promised to improve the law and order situation in Haryana if the voters brought a BJP-led government in the state.
In his first election rally in Karnal in October 2014, Modi had complained that the police in Haryana under Hooda government didn’t ‘listen to’ him because it was under the control of the state government. He, therefore, asked the voters to hand over its control to him by bringing a BJP government in Haryana.
Voters believed him and voted BJP to power, only to realise that his promise was yet another jumla.
A video of terrified police personnel running away from jat protesters in Rohtak has now gone viral. This video may bring a smile to your face or even cause laughter riots, but the visuals are indicative of just how bad policing in Haryana has become.
Rohtak was the worst hit city during the Jat reservation agitation.
This video of Haryana Police running for shelter to protect themselves from the Jat protesters has gone viral. Questions are being asked as to what has happened to the morale of Haryana police under BJP chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
