Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has resigned from his post after he submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya.
This is the second time the BJP has been forced to change a chief minister in the last six months. The hilly state goes to polls in February next year.

BJP MLAs are expected to meet in Dehradun on Saturday.
The development comes as a huge setback to the Hindutva party since assembly polls in Uttarakhand are barely a few months away.
The BJP had won the last assembly polls in 2017 by defeating the Congress. But, the party leadership appears to be extremely worried that it may not be able to repeat its last electoral performance when the state goes to polls in February next year.
