Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya are out of Tihar Jail

JNU student leaders Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya have been released from Tihar jail after the Patiala House court  granted them an interim bail of six months in sedition case.

Delhi’s Patiala House Court had granted interim bail for six months to the arrested JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya.

Both have been in jail on charges of raising anti-national slogans on the campus on 9 February.

Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya have to furnish bail bond of 25 thousand each and one surety of same amount.

Court has directed that accused(Umar Khalid and Anirban) shall not leave Delhi without permission of court during interim bail period.

The court observed that both were highly educated and their credentials and family background had not been contested by the state.
