The Supreme Court Bar Association president, Dushyant Dave on Monday night resigned from his post saying he couldn’t work where there was no respect for him.

His surprising resignation comes amidst growing rift between Dave and the newly elected secretary and Samajwadi Party spokesperson, Gaurav Bhatia.

Dave’s resignation note said, “I hereby tender my resignation as the President of the SCBA with immediate effect. I must place on record my gratitude to all those who put their faith in me and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I must however tender my sincere apology for taking this step. I hope and trust you will understand my predicament. I wish the SCBA lots of good luck and assure that as a Member I will always be happy to extend my help if needed.”

A source in the SCBA told www.jantakareporter.com that Dave’s extraordinary step was necessitated after he was condemned at the Executive Committee meeting held on Monday (15 February).

The sources said, ‘Dushyant is a thorough gentleman and respected by all across the Bar. However, ever since Gaurav was elected to the post of secretary, he began to create rift in the executive committee in a bid to secure majority. Being a politician that he, he successfully achieved that passed few resolutions condemning Dave in the past. The passing of resolution today against him was something that prompted Dushyant to call it quits.”

The rift between Dave and Bhatia had reached a boiling point when the former skipped the farewell function of Justice MY Eqbal recently. This prompted Chief Justice Thakur to open up about the same while expressing his hope that things are resolved soon.
