Tributes pour in after 44-year-old Bengaluru’s Deputy Mayor Ramila Umashankar dies of cardiac arrest

Deputy Mayor of Bengaluru, Ramila Umashankar of the JDS, has died of massive cardiac arrest. She was 44. She was elected as the new Deputy Mayor of the municipality on 28 September.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy expressed his shock on the sudden death of one of his senior party colleagues. He wrote, “It is shocking to learn that she is no more with us.”

Kumaraswamy also remembered her as a dedicated social worker and committed party worker.’

Umashankar was also a corporator from Kaveripura ward of Karnataka. Among those who paid their last respect to the departed soul was Karanataka’s deputy chief minister, G Parameshwara.

Tributes have been pouring in for the death of a relatively young leader. One user remembered how she was there travelling with Kumaraswamy during a metro launch in the city. He wrote, “Newly elected B’luru Deputy Mayor Ramila Umashankar passes. Just yesterday she was at the Metro launch. Deeply shocked Heartfelt condolences .”
