Tej Pratap Yadav, former Bihar Chief Minister and the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son, got engaged to fiancee Aishwarya Roy on Wednesday.
His to-be bride Aishwarya is a history graduate and the oldest daughter of six-time RJD MLA, Chandrika Prasad Rai. Rai was also a minister in the previous RJD government. Aishwarya’s mother is reportedly a professor.
Today’s engagement ceremony was attended by Lalu Yadav’s close family members. This was the first big family function that the former Bihar chief minister could not attend as he’s currently serving jail sentence in fodder scam cases.
The wedding is expected to take place next month. For today’s function, elaborate arrangements were made and the flowers were brought from New Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
Not so long ago, Tej Pratap’s mother, Rabri Devi, had famously said that she wanted a daughter-in-law, who didn’t go to the mall. She had famously said, “Cinema hall aur mall jane wali ladki nahi chahiye. Ghar chalaane wali, bade buzurg ka aadar karne wali, jaise ki hum hain, waisi ladki chahiye. (I want a girl who will take care of the house, respect elders like me and not those who go to malls and cinema halls.)”
Tej Pratap, the oldest son of Lalu and Rabri, had joined politics just before the 2015 assembly elections. After winning from Mahua Assembly seat, he was made the health minister in the Nitish Kumar-led government.
