The Kathua gang-rape and murder has caused an unprecedented outrage in the country with activists and prominent Bollywood stars launching a massive campaign. Among those who took to social media with a common message denouncing the abhorrent act by Hindutva zealots were music director Vishal Dadlani, actors Swara Bhaskar, Sonam Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Kareena Kapoor.
Kareena throwing her eight behind the movement in support of a girl child, who was brutalised for days inside a temple before being mercilessly killed was rare. It highlighted the gravity of the situation concerning India’s women and girls.
The photo of Kareena holding a placard with a message ‘I am Hindustan.I am Ashamed. #JusticeForAasifa. 8 years old. Gangraped. Murdered. In ‘Devi’-sthaan temple. #Kathua’ went viral.
Since the perpetrators of the 8-year-old child in Kathua enjoyed the blessings of the BJP, the Hindutva supporters moved with alarming speed to target Kareena. The right-wing trolls began to attack Kareena for her decision to marry Muslim Saif Ali Khan and naming her first child ‘Taimur.’ This did not go down well with Swara, who replied to one troll, “You should be ashamed you exist. That God gave you a brain which you chose to fill with hate and a mouth you chose to spew filth from. You are a shame on India and Hindus. That shits like you feel emboldened to talk this crap publicly is this govt.’s legacy.”

This is not the first time Kareena has had to bear the brunt of nasty trolling by vicious Hindutva army. Some of them had even wished death for the new born child at the time of his birth in December 2016.
Kareena had recently revealed that Saif wanted to change Taimur’s name because of the constant trolling by the right-wing Hindutva army, but she was termined not to give in to the campaign on social media.
