Swamy to fight for Asaram

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who had promised Asaram Bapu during a meeting with him in Jodhpur Central Jail last month to secure his release, has finally moved a bail application in the trial court in Jodhpur.

The application was submitted to the court by Swamy’s assistants.

Judge Manoj Kumar Vyas allowed the application and listed the matter for arguments on Tuesday.

“Swami himself will be coming on May 26 to argue on the bail application,” said an assistant advocate who appeared in the court with the application. In fact, he even tweeted about the issue.

Swami had visited to Jodhpur on April 23 and visited Asaram in the jail where he has been lodged for over 18 months.

Expressing sympathy with Asaram, Swamy had compared his case with those of political leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jayalalithaa.

In the past, renowned lawyers like Ram Jethmalani and Salman Khurshid have strived hard to secure bail for Asaram but nothing concrete ever came out of that.
