In a joint operation today morning, the Bengaluru state internal security division and Assam Police arrested four suspected Bodo militants from a house in the city.
The suspected militants who were reportedly working in a factory at Peenya Industrial area, were identified as Sandan Basumatri, Naseen Basumatri, Jibal Nursey and Tomar Basumatri. All suspects are in their twenties and had been hiding in the city for almost a year, the police officials have said.
The suspected militants are to be produced before the magistrate for transit to Assam, police officials have further informed. A case has been registered by the Rajgopalnagar police and investigations are on.
In January this year, the city police had arrested top Bodo militant, Bikhang Basumatri, who was allegedly involved in the December violence in Assam. Basumatri was linked to the killing of eight Adivasis at Lungsung on December 23 last year and six Hindi-speaking persons at Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district on January 16, 2013.
