External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is one politician in the Centre’s Narendra Modi cabinet who enjoys respect from people cutting across political ideologies with even her detractors being in love with her.
Swaraj’s engaging style on social media platforms and concern for Indian citizens stuck abroad has earned her plenty of plaudits in the past. Her Twitter service has brought respite to hundreds of hapless Indians placed in difficult situations abroad and she continues to impress everyone with her commitment to work.
Last week Swaraj was widely hailed after she assured a Pakistani man of a medical visa to ensure that his two-and-a-half-month-old infant, suffering from a heart disease, could be brought to India for treatment.
She had said, “The child will not suffer. Please contact Indian High Commission in Pakistan. We will give the medical visa.”
With 8.18 million followers, Swaraj is also one of the most followed women leaders in the world. An international public relations and communications firm Burson-Marsteller had recently included her in the list of the 10 most followed world leaders. She was the only woman in the elite list.
In most cases, Swaraj uses Twitter to extend help to Indians in distress. But, not always, have people contacted her with genuine problem. There have been times with some Twitter users have chosen to target the minister with pranks.
On Thursday, a man wrote to her on Twitter informing that he had been stuck on Mars and needed the help from the government.
User Karan Saini’s tweet said, “I am stuck on mars, food sent via Mangalyaan (987 days ago), is running out, when is Mangalyaan-II being sent ?”

Swaraj came up even more quirkier response, which has now gone viral.
She wrote, “Even if you are stuck on the Mars, Indian Embassy there will help you.”

Her reply left Twitter users incredibly impressed as they posted tweets in admiration of the minister. While others came up with their own funny comments targetting Modi.
Here are some of the examples.
