1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon is likely to be hanged tomorrow at Nagpur jail after the Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected all the technical arguments presented before it in this case.
Earlier, SC had dismissed Yakub’s curative petition that held legal procedure was not correctly followed in his case. The court also said that there was no lapse in the death warrant issued for Yakub in this case.
Yakub had asked for a stay on his hanging scheduled for tomorrow, on grounds that rules were violated.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao has rejected Yakub’s mercy petition.
Today Yakub also made a fresh mercy petition to the President, which is yet to be decided.
