It’s not that often you hear of a journalist reading a breaking news on the tragedy involving his or her own loved ones.
On Saturday, a journalist working for Chattisgarh’s IBC-24 news channel broke the news of a road accident that had killed three people in a car. It was during her chat with the channel’s reporter that she realised that one of the victims in the car her husband.
Far from displaying her emotions on live TV, 28-year-old Supreet Kaur continued to read news in a professional manner. It was after she cam off air when she broke down and called up the reporter for more details on the accident.
According to reports, a Renault Duster SUV had crashed after being hit by a speeding truck leaving three dead and two injured.
The news presenter realised that one of the killed could be her husband while she was interacting with the reporter. The news production team too realised it, but did not alert her as she was live.
She is now being praised for her bravery and professionalism. Chief Minister Raman Singh has praised her.
He tweeted, “Salute Supreet’s strength in dealing with her husband’s demise with extraordinary bravery & professionalism.May departed soul rest in peace.”
