A stunning performance by Manika Batra in the ongoing Commonwealth Games has secured India’s first ever Women’s Table Team Gold medal in the completion. With this victory, India has now won seven Gold medals in the games.

President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated all three members of the women team for creating history at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. He said, “Congratulations to the Golden Girls – Manika Batra, Madhurika Patkar & Mouma Das – for bagging India’s first ever Women’s Table Team GOLD at Commonwealth Games..stupendous achievement.”
Union Minister Harsh Vardhan tweeted, “Girls continue their dominance among Indian winners at #GC2018. 16-year-old Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu shot their way to Gold & Silver in Women’s 10m Air Pistol. Women’s tennis team led by Manika Batra stuns defending champions Singapore in TT. Proud of you girls.”
As a teenager, Manika was offered with many modelling assignments, but she turned them down in order to focus on the game. Earlier this year, the 20-year-old sensation had defeated World No. 24 Zhang Mo, at the ITTF World Tour Platinum Qatar Open.
Manika Batra has been a top Twitter trend since she secured India its first-ever Team Gold in the Games.
