Prime Minister Narendra Modi was left red-faced as students shouted slogans during his speech at Banaras Hindu University on Monday.
One student, who shouted slogans, told ANI that they wanted to make their point on how students’ interests were being hurt by the university.
They chanted slogans in demand for the revival of students’ union in the university.
While the student Asutosh Singh was speaking to ANI reporter, someone appeared from nowhere and launched physical assaults in him.
Later, there were protests outside the venue of Modi’s speech prompting police to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

Students have chanted anti-Modi slogans even in the past.
Last month, as PM Narendra Modi was about to start his speech at a convocation ceremony in Bhim Rao Ambedkar University in Lucknow, a group of angry students raised slogans of ‘Narendra Modi Murdabad’ and ‘Modi, go back’.
As TV cameras focussed on Modi, he looked a bit shaken at the sudden interruption from the audience. And then the cameras turned to the seats from where the slogans were raised.
