Spiritual guru and the Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has faced a major threat to his life from the Pakistan-based Tehreek-e-Taliban, according to media reports.

In two letters written to an Art of Living centre, the TTP has warned of a blast targeting Ravi Shankar and his followers.

The United States Department of State has also notified Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of threats in this regard. Art of Living’s spokesperson Nakul Dhawan says the letter holds that if the organisation carries on with their famous programme, there would be consequences.

Last year, an Art of Living centre in Islamabad was set afire by the Taliban.

In view of the threat, the Home Ministry has directed the authorities to review the spiritual guru’s security. Intelligence agencies have also been asked to verify the letters purportedly sent by TTP.

Sri Sri, as the guru is famously known, had visited Pakistan in 2012 to inaugurate a centre there for his Art of Living movement. Sri Sri had also offered to hold talks with the Taliban to help bring peace in the region.

In March this year, Ravi Shankar had also received threats from ISIS while he was touring Malaysia.
