Actor Sidharth Malhotra trolled for ‘asking’ people in Haryana to watch his movie amidst violence

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra was on Friday was unfairly trolled for a tweet posted on Haryana violence, which has killed 12 people and left more than 200 injured, so far.

Malhotra, who movie Gentleman was released on Friday, wrote, “To all the people of Haryana , please stay safe. Hope you can see our film soon #Agentleman #PeaceAndLove.”

The actor was condemned for promoting his film when the violence had affected hundreds of thousands of people in four states.

However, the actor soon clarified that he had posted the controversial tweet long before the verdict in Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s rape case had come in.

He wrote, “Its really sad to see the situation worsen since morning and see people in Punjab and Haryana suffer.Love and prayers. To people who are commenting on my morning tweets,they were made before the verdict ! Thoughts n prayers.”

At least 11 people have been killed after supporters of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh went on rampage across Haryana in the aftermath of their guru being convicted in rape case.

Followers of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh today also pelted stones and broke barricades soon after his conviction in the rape case following which police lobbed tear gas shells and fired in the air.

There are also reports of Dera supporters barging into the houses of ordinary public in sector 5 of Panchkula to attack them. Powers stations in Punjab too have been set on fire.

Delhi Police too have recorded incidents of violence at seven different places with several cases of buses being set on fire. The affected areas in Delhi included Mangolpuri, Loni (Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh) and Anand Vihar, reported Aaj Tak channel.
