Shikhar Dhawan to lead Indian cricket team for Sri Lanka tour, Bhuvneshwar Kumar named vice captain

The Indian cricket board on Thursday announced the team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, where the men in blue will play three One Day International and T20 International matches each. The selection committee has named Shikhar Dhawan as the new captain, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar would act as his deputy.

The BCCI said in a statement, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee picked the Indian squad for the 3-match ODI series and the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka scheduled in the month of July. All matches will be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.”

Starting 12 July, India would play three ODI matches against Sri Lanka in Colombo. After the ODI series concludes on 18 July, both sides would lock horns in T20 International series from 21 July. All three matches would once again be played in Colombo.
