Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Minister Parasnath Yadav sparked a row on Sunday after he reportedly said that ‘one can’t fight the course of nature’ referring to a journalist’s alleged murder in Shahajanpur.
Addressing journalists in Allahabad, Yadav said, “There are some incidents that happen in the course of nature and destiny.”
His callous remarks have intensified anger against the Uttar Pradesh government, which has been accused of protecting its minister Ram Murti Verma who has been accused of ordering the killing of freelance journalist Jagendra Singh.
Jagendra, a journalist hailing from Shahajanpur, wrote a Facebook post under “Shahajanpur Samachaar” about the criminal activities of Samajwadi Party’s Ram Murthi, accusing him of illegal mining and forceful encroachment of land. Following this, Jagendra was allegedly manhandled by the minister and his men. His family has claimed that a police officer allegedly set the journalist on fire, who collapsed on his way top the hospital.
