BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Puri, Sambit Patra, has finally reacted to his loss to BJD’s Pinaki Misra by over 11,000 votes. His reaction came almost 24 hours after Misra defeated him in the high-profile parliamentary seat.
Taking to Twitter, Patra wrote, “Friends I lost the election by about 11000 votes in Puri ..but I take this opportunity to thank my master Lord Jagannath who gave me an opportunity to contest elections from His holy abode I thank the karyakartas of BJP Puri & above all the people of Puri for their immense love.”

Patra earned plenty of plaudits from his fans for fighting a tough battle in Puri. He polled 526607 votes in his debut electoral fight for a place in the Lok Sabha, while his rival Misra received 538321. In terms of vote share, while Patra polled 46.37 percent votes, Misra received 47.4 percent of votes.
During the election campaign, Patra was often seen dining with his constituency members. One of his meal sharing exercises had courted controversy as his rivals accused him of exposing his own government’s scheme, Ujjwala Yojna. However, the woman in question had later said that she too had received LPG gas connection from the Modi government but preferred to cook using firewood.
