In a breather to the ace Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal, the Indian Olympics Association on Tuesday said that it had resolved the accreditation issue concerning the star athlete’s father. This was after an angry Saina took to Twitter to express her outrage after her father was excluded from the list of Indian officials, named for this month’s Commonwealth Games, to be held in Australia.

Angry Saina took to Twitter to express her anger. In a series of tweets, she wrote, “Surprise to see that when we started from India for commonwealth games 2018 my father was confirmed as the team official and I paid the whole amount for that but when we came to the games village … his name was cut from team official category .. and he can’t even stay with me.”

Another tweet by the badminton star said, “e can’t c my matches and he can’t enter the village nor he can meet me in anyway .. what kind of support is this ..@thecgf.”

“I wanted his support as I regularly take him for my competitions …but i didn’t understand why nobody informed me all this earlier .. that he can’t enter anywhere #CommonwealthGames2018,” she added.

The IOA then posted a long message on Twitter claiming that the payment for accreditation did not include bed in the Games Village. Its tweet said, “Dear @NSaina , Mr. Harvir Singh is an accredited Extra Official! As stated in the CDM Manual of Gold Coast 2018 CWG and repeatedly conveyed to BAI, the payment for accreditation of Extra Official does not include bed in the Games Village.”

Moments later, the IOA tweeted again informing that the accreditation issue had been resolved as its social media post said, “Accreditation resolved! Saina is all cheers now.”

The union sports ministry had cleared the names of PV Sindhu’s mother Vijaya Pusarla and Saina’s father Harvir Singh to be part of the 15 officials/non-athletes for the CWG, scheduled to from on 4 April.
