RTI activist & member of AAP beaten to death in UP

An RTI activist and member of Aam Aadmi Party was today beaten to death allegedly by the village head of Hardigaura in Uttar Pradesh, police officials have informed.

Asper news agency PTI, Additional Superintendent of Police J P Pandey said that Guru Prasad Mishra (58) used to move RTI applications on development projects undertaken by the village head Triloki Nath in the village and recently staged a dharna at the district headquarters.

According to complaint filed by Mishra’s family members, Triloki along with his brothers and sons attacked their house and brutally assaulted Guru Prasad. The family members claimed that Mishra, who sustained serious injuries, died while being taken to the hospital.

Police stated that a case had been lodged against six persons, including the village head. The ASP added that raids were being carried out to arrest the accused.
