BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj on Sunday said that the Ram temple at Ayodhya will definitely be built during the present NDA regime.
Maharaj was reported saying in Unnao, “Ram mandir will definitely be built during our tenure. If not today then tomorrow but it will made. We have only completed one year of our tenure, there are still 4 years remaining.” He further added, “We should not doubt the intensions of BJP. It is certain that Ram mandir will be constructed under the BJP rule. It may be built tomorrow or the day after. We have completed just one year in power, four more years are to go.”
Known for sparking controversies on sensitive issues, Maharaj on Sunday claimed that the objective of the Ram temple movement was establishing “Ram Rajya”, he said steps taken by the Modi government for the development of the nation was taking the country towards the same.
In response to the statement, Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed said Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of “being one” but his partymen keep speaking in different voices.
Reacting to Maharaj’s statement, BSP general secretary Naseemuddin Siddiqui told a news agency, “BJP uses Ram temple issue only to fool people before elections. Now, with UP heading towards Assembly polls, party MPs are raising the issue to woo voters. They have no intention to build the temple.”
The comments came from Maharaj after VHP spokesman and national general secretary Surendra Jain recently said that the Modi government has come to power not only for ushering in development but also to deliver on the core saffron agenda, including building a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya.
