Kings Xi Punjab owner Preity Zinta has reacted angrily on a report that she had a spat with team mentor Virender Sehwag after her team’s loss to Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL.

This was after a report by Mumbai Mirror said that Sehwag had decided to quit Kings Xi after this season.“Against Rajasthan Royals, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was sent in at number three, ahead of more accomplished batsmen such as Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari. The move backfired as Ashwin fell for a duck, and Preity launched into Sehwag for the decision,” a source was quoted by Mumbai Mirror.

Angry Preity took to Twitter to express her anger on what she termed was a fake news. She wrote, “Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian ! Wow ! #fakenews”

Many fans were quick to write that they wanted a confirmation from Sehwag adding that they supported Kings XI because of the former India opener. One user wrote, “we are not supporting KXIP because of you !! it’s because of Viru @virendersehwag waiting for his confirmation!! Hope it should be #fakenews.” Another user wrote, “You did it with sanjay bangar and i guranteed that you also did this with viru pa because you are villain and you don’t know how to respect the cricket and legends.” “Viru paji ke bina apke team ka koi wajood nhi h preity…Zinta…” wrote another user. One Kings Xi fan asked her to reflect on her behaviour. He wrote, “maybe you should ponder, there have been incidences with sehwag where some one is at harsh at him and the news is out with his pov…maybe…you should know where the leak instead of blaming the journos.”

Sehwag, otherwise a prolific Twitter user, has chosen to not make comments on the reported verbal spat between him and Preity on Friday. This has given rise to suspicion that all was indeed not well between the two.

In 2016, Mumbai Mirror had reported how Preity publicly abused the then team coach Sanjay Bangar over his choice of the batting-order after a series of dismal performance by the team. According to media reports, Preity was angry over the defeat, which had prompted her to storm into the team dug-out and have a go at Bangar. Reportedly, her rant was laden with expletives and she used the F-word repeatedly in front of players and junior staff members.
