PM talks about heatwave, OROP, Incredible India in 8th edition of Mann Ki Baat

PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation via Akashvani in the eighth edition of Mann Ki Baat. The PM started his address by mentioning the heatwave. He urged people to not just take care of their near and dear ones but also birds and animals by providing them water in small utensils.

PM Modi also congratulated the students who cleared their board exams and wished them all the very best for their future. He asked them to explore career options which break the traditional monotony. He urged them to think and do out-of-the-box and contribute towards the development of the nation.

The issue of One Rank One Pension also found mention in the Mann Ki Baat. PM said that a lot of issues need to be fixed regarding the OROP but promised to clear them for the armed forces. He asked them to be a little patient and not to pay heed to rumours or political tangles which have hindered the clearance of the OROP.

PM Modi ended his Mann Ki Baat by asking people to maintain travel diaries in order to write the account if their journeys and expeditions in varioius parts of India. He said that this would enable passing of information about our “incredible India” to the future generartions. The PM asked the listeners to share photgraphs, accounts of their travel with him and he would further share them with others. He even asked them to use the hashtag #IncredibleIndia.

The first edition of the programme was aired on October 3, 2014.

President of the United States, Barack Obama was also a part of the January edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ during his trip to India.

In the last edition on April 26, Prime Minister Modi had shared concerns over the devastating earthquake in Nepal and pledged India’s whole -hearted assistance to the neighbouring country.
