PM Modi reviews progress of Swachh Vidyalaya Program

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a top-level meeting to review the progress of the Swachh Vidayalaya Program.

The meeting took place in the Prime Minister’s Office, and was also attended by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani besides others.

The Swachh Vidyalaya Program aims at encouraging students to take up various activities, including talks on cleanliness and hygiene; cleaning classrooms, laboratories, libraries; undertake the annual maintenance of the school premises, including white wash and painting; organise essays, debates and painting competitions on cleanliness and hygiene and so on.

The HRD Ministry has also proposed a 30-minute cleaning campaign twice a week in schools involving students, teachers, parents and community members. The aim is to imbibe cleanliness and values of unity in terms of working together to ensure a healthy and serene environment.
