Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Narendra Patel, who sensationally alleged over the weekend that the BJP had offered him a Rs 1 crore bribe to leave the Patidar movement and join the saffron party, has filed a case against the state BJP president Jitu Vaghani.
Among those against whom Patel filed case also included Varun Patel, who had allegedly acted as a mediator. Varun Patel had last week left Patidar movement to join the BJP.
Narendra Patel has accused Vaghani, BJP youth wing leader Rutwik Patel, party spokesperson Bharat Pandya, and Varun Patel of threatening and bribing him.
Narendra Patel, a prominent PAAS leader, had told reporters that his decision to accept Rs 10 lakh was to ‘expose’ the game-plan of both the BJP and Varun Patel and Reshma Patel.
He had said, “Varun Patel took me to a meeting where it was discussed that I will be given Rs 1 crore and I received the money from his hands. This is a corruption money and not something I’ve earned through hard work. So, I will be returning this money. I had joined the movement for Patidar community, not to face the insult by the government.”
Hurt by the bribery allegations, Nikhil Savani, the BJP’s Patel leader in Gujarat, had quit the party, just weeks after he had joined the saffron party with 150 of his supporters.
