A minister in the Narendra Modi government has written a moving post after his daughter turned COVID-19 warrior in her home state of Gujarat. Union Chemical and Fertiliser Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter to share the photo of his daughter as he expressed his sense of pride.

Mandaviya, who is also the minister of state for ports, shipping and waterway, wrote, “My Daughter, My Pride! Disha, I have waited so long to see you in this role. I am filled with pride that you are rendering your duty as an Intern in this critical time. The nation needs your service and I’m sure you will prove yourself. More power to you my warrior!”

In the photo, now gone viral, the minister’s daughter could be seen posing for the camera in her PPE gear. Mandaviya earned plenty of plaudits as netizens appreciated his daughter’s courage.

One wrote, “I salute her courage and dedication. May God bless her. #CovidWarrior #IndiaFightsBack.” Anotehr commented, “Salute to the warrior! Nation is…. Tasked up to be MASKED UP!!” “#Pride #daughters #Salute With great power comes great responsibility, this is the perfect example of executing once responsibilty,” wrote another Twitetr user.

Many also felt that it was quite unusual for a daughter of a union minister to become a COVID warrior at a time when scores were dying across India. Several countries have come forward to help India with Saudi Arabia sending 80 MT liquid oxygen with thousands of cylinders and cryogenic tankers to India. The US and the UK too have pledged support for India during its moment of extraordinary crisis.
