A senior police officer in Mohali has landed himself in a big controversy after he accidentally sent an MMS of a topless woman on his WhatsApp group.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Parminder Singh Bhandal, superintendent of police (SP), city, SAS Nagar sent a one-minute-23-second long video of a woman dancing on a table to a WhatsApp group.
The said WhatsApp group had several police officers including his subordinates, politicians and journalists members.
After having shared the video, Bhandal realised his mistake and posted another message apologising for his mistake.
He wrote, “Sorry sent by mistake, my friend children were playing with my phone. (sic)”
Under the existing law, “publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form” can lead to jail term up to three years.
Bhandal has, however, received support and advice from the group members.
One of his subordinates said that “To err is human, to forgive is divine.”
A journalist, also the group admin, said that the matter should be closed since the SP had now apologised.
