Indian cricketer Md Shami found himself in the spot of bother once again after he posted a New Year message on Twitter with an image of Shiva linga decorated with flowers.
His tweet, now deleted, read, “As the new year renews all the happiness and good tidings, hope the joyful spirit keeps glowing in your heart forever! Happy New Year!”2018 to you and family’s.”
No sooner had Shami tweeted the image, social media users began to incessantly troll him with many wondering if had already converted to Hindusim.

This is not the first time Shami has faced trolling on Twitter. Last year, while posting New Year wishes, Shami was trolled for sharing his photo with wife, who according to many was dressed properly.
In his Facebook post with his wife’s photo (below), Shami had written, “Na sathi hai na hamara hai koi na kisi ke hum na hamara hai koi par apko dekh kar keh sakte hain ek pyarasa humsafar hai koi… Happy New Year.”
In July, he was trolled again after he posted the images of his family during the birthday celebration of his two-year-old daughter Aairah. Many Muslim trolls had taken exception to his act alleging that his action did not confrom to the tenets of Islam.
Some said that the birthday celebration was against the Islamic teachings, while others simply had problem in his wife not covering her head.
The 27-year-old cricketer originally hails from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh but has settled in Kolkata now.
