Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress sweeps Kolkata Municipal Polls; BJP rejected once again

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress on Tuesday swept the municipal polls in Kolkata with the BJP facing outright rejection from voters once again.

The Trinamool Congress won 134 out of 140 municipal seats.

Banerjee took to Twitter to congratulate the winning candidates. She wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to all candidates for your victory in the KMC elections. Remember to serve people with utmost diligence and gratitude! I wholeheartedly thank every single resident of KMC for putting their faith on us, once again.”

The BJP had demanded the cancellation of the polls alleging electoral fraud.

The TMC had inflicted a crushing defeat on the BJP in the assembly polls earlier this year when the collective efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah failed to prevent Banerjee from returning to power for the third time.
