Ace designer Archana Kochhar on Thursday promoted the ‘Make in India’ campaign at New York runway with her collection, made up of Ahimsa Silk.
Archana presented a collection titled ‘Ahimsa Resama’ on 13 September and it was made of Ahmisa Silk to promote the ‘Make in India’ campaign at the FTL MODA New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2016.
The designer said in a statement,”‘Ahmisa Resama’ is an amalgamation of global silhouettes with ethnic embroideries. By saving each silkworm in the process of creating Ahmisa Silk, they are set free as silk moths.”
She further added,”This transformation has inspired me to incorporate hundreds of tiny silk moth wings and cocoon-shaped textures which are then bound together in the form of intricate textural embroidery which is the focal element of the collection.”
The colour of the collection is in nude palettes variations such as beige and ivory offset with rose gold embellishments. Embroideries on it were a melange of rich Indian traditional gold zari thread, enlightened with texturing techniques and Swarovski sprinkle.
