Aam Aadmi Party leader MLA Somnath Bharti on Thursday night made a sensational allegation that the Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung had “threatened” to file an FIR against him if he continued to raise the issue of change of land use of a plot from a nursery school to a BJP office.

Bharti said that the alleged threat from the LG came during a Delhi Development Authority meeting today on Thursday.

The meeting took place at the Raj Niwas to “confirm” the minutes of the previous meet held on 23 September , when Bharti was “not present”.

“The Delhi government had given several requests for land for schools and hospitals. Nothing is happening on that end and here land is being given to the BJP for political purpose, which was earlier alloted for building a nursery school, Bharti said.

He added, “I wanted to know if any study had been done to ascertain whether people want a school or not. They were not responding to my questions, but I kept on asking about it. I also furnished all letters from Delhi government demanding land for school and hospital… the LG said he will see to that an FIR is registered against me.”

The LG office has been quick to deny the allegations but the social media went berserk with the dominating theme being of sharp criticism for the LG.

Earlier this week, the Delhi deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia had written to the LG attacking him for his decision to allot a school land to the BJP, whose central government, Jung reports to.

Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted asking ‘Shud LG threaten an MLA wid an FIR if MLA opposes giving away of school land to a political party?'(sic)
